Major Surface Repair

We went back to this same rink a couple of weeks later and ran the resurfacer at about half the normal speed. This melted more ice, which filled even very deep pits with water so that all major surface damage was repaired. Flooding the rink has the same effect of course, and is an option for this particular rink even if no one actually gets around to doing it. The point is that major surface damage can be repaired even if the rink isn't close to a source of hot water. Having taken the time to repair all the major damage, subsequent resurfacings go much more quickly. |
