VENDORS BEATEN IN BEIRUT
BEIRUT, Lebanon - Christian teen-agers today beat up vendors who ignored a strike that was called to show solidarity with the army commander, Gen. Michel Aoun, in his opposition to the new president, witnesses said. Rene Mouawad, who was elected president Sunday, consulted with politicians in Syrian-controlled north Lebanon in an effort to form a government.
