Tracking Concentrator - Transmission

| This is an assembled tracking concentrator designed to work in transmission. Two panels with perpendicular directors are required to steer unpolarized light, after which a Fresnel lens focuses the light onto the target. By design, the ordinary (non-variable) refractive index of the liquid crystal matches the refractive index of the grooved film. The index matching eliminates refraction and reflection at the prism/film interface for the ordinary wave. The symmetric grooves allow steering on both sides of normal incidence. | |
