Bev Krupa enters her first season as assistant coach of the Nanook
volleyball program. She was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, and attended
West Valley High School. In 1995 she was named the Alaska Female Prep Athlete
of the Year, excelling in five different varsity sports: soccer, basketball,
track and field, softball and volleyball. Her parents are Brenda and Tim
Krupa, and she has one brother Brad, 22, who is a student at UAF.
Before joining the UAF coaching staff, Krupa attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., on a volleyball scholarship. She played for Purdue for the 1995-98 seasons, accumulating such awards as Mortar Board Community Service Award, Purdue Athlete of the Month and the All Big Ten Conference Volleyball Team. She is a Purdue volleyball record holder: most kills in a match (38), national team tryout participant in 1998, team captain her senior season and was named to the All Big Ten Conference Academic Team. Since ending her career at Purdue she has continued to play volleyball with an Alaskan team registered with the United States Volleyball Association. In 2000, Team Alaska won the Co-Ed Reverse Natinal Championship in Columbus, OH. In 2001, Team Alaska took 2nd at Nationals in Milwaukee, Wisc., with Krupa taking home the MVP honors at both tournaments. Krupa began coaching club volleyball at the high school level in Indiana in 1999. For the 2000 volleyball seasons she was a volunteer coach with the Nanooks and coached locally at Lathrop High School for both the junior varsity volleyball and basketball teams. Other experiences include camp involvement both locally and outside for over two years. |
